VETS & STAFF
We are a small practice consisting of two experienced equine vets backed up by two office staff. Being a small practice, we are able to provide more personal attention to all the horses we care for and our clients will enjoy seeing a familiar vet at each visit and having the telephone answered by a familiar person.
The Vets
David Aldington BVSc MRCVS
Having qualified from Liverpool in 1993, I came to work in Clitheroe where I had previously “seen practice”. I initially treated all species but I was always keen to see horses after having owned my own horses before going to university . The horse work at Clitheroe gradually increased to occupy most of my time and in 2002, I looked into setting up my own practice. Because this would have meant being permanently on call, I decided to team up with a practice at Settle but I have now taken the plunge and set up my own company. Having achieved a prize in preventive medicine at Liverpool, I am enthusiastic about making sure that all the horses and ponies in the practice have a proper preventive medicine plan.
Sarah Heathcote BSc BVSc MRCVS
I qualified from Leahurst in 1999 and initially worked in mixed practice for Town and Country Veterinary Group (formerly Holroyds) in Clayton-le-Moors. The 4 years before joining Aldington Equine Vets were spent working for Simon Constable’s equine practice in Manchester. My interests include equine anaesthesia and critical care and I am currently studying for a postgraduate qualification in Veterinary Anaesthesia. My love of horses extends to my Standardbred Jensen and cheeky Shetland ponies, Zak and Zeus.
The Office Staff
Alison Younger
I began working with David in July 2003 having previously worked in retail and administration. I started taking riding lessons and was soon bitten by the bug and although a novice rider, I can claim to be as horse mad (and therefore penniless) as the rest of you! I will be acting as practice manager
Jo Aldington VN DipAVN (Surg)
I qualified as a vet nurse ten years ago and subsequently passed the diploma in advanced vet nursing in 2001. Being married to David for the past three years, I understand the demands of equine veterinary work. I will be working part time at the new practice when not looking after our demanding toddler Lucy
